MEDICAL DERMATOLOGY
Skin Cancer Surveillance
The high-altitude environment and outdoor active lifestyles that we enjoy in Fort Collins and throughout Northern Colorado, puts our skin at increased risk for skin cancer. A thorough, comprehensive, full-skin exam with either Dr. Lillis or Dr. Caufield will help you identify spots of concern. Both are well-trained, experienced dermatologists who will provide education about best practices to reduce risks of skin cancer.
Blu-U Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
PDT is indicated for field treatment of minimally to moderately thick actinic keratoses of the face and scalp. It is a targeted therapy that treats these pre-cancer lesions at the cellular level and typically has less down time than other field treatments. For more info, click on the links below.

Narrow Band UVB Phototherapy
Narrow Band UVB phototherapy is a form of light therapy that utilizes a single wavelength in the UV spectrum to treat many inflammatory skin conditions. This 311nm wavelength has been shown to be the most effective wavelength at decreasing inflammation in the skin without increasing the occurrence of skin cancers; unlike other sources of artificial UV light like tanning beds. NBUVB can be used to treat the following inflammatory skin conditions.
- Psoriasis
- Chronic Eczema
- Vitiligo
- Atopic dermatitis
- Severe refractory pruritis (itching)
- Photodermatoses
- Pitiariasis rosea
- Lichen planus
- Pityriasis lichendoides
- Parapsoriasis
- Cutaneous lymphomas including mycosis fungoides
- Alopecia areata
- Granuloma annulare
- Morphea
- Chronic urticaria
Patch Testing
We offer the expanded American Contact Dermatitis Society Core Allergen Series, which includes the 80 most common and relevant allergens as determined by the leading contact dermatitis experts in the country.
Itchy rashes may be the result of contact dermatitis. Patch testing identifies the responsible allergen or allergens and, once identified, patients can cure their rashes by avoiding these chemicals. Download this PDF to learn more about patch testing and what to expect at your patch testing appointment.
